Doug Barrow has worked in the marine fuel markets
for nearly 30 years, employed by a range of international
companies mainly in London, but with experience
gained in Singapore and the Middle East. He also
has a deep knowledge of managing a trade association,
being one of the founding members of the International
Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) in 1993 which
he chaired until 1996. He was elected to the Court
of the Common Council representing the Ward of Aldgate
in July 2007 and appointed as Ward Deputy in 2008.
Doug is presently the Chief Executive of Maritime
London, a not for profit promotional body for UK
based companies which provide professional services
to the international shipping industries. Whilst
promoting the maritime services of the UK, Maritime
London also aims to ensure that the UK remains a
world beating location to base a maritime related
business. He joined Horton International as a member
of the UK Advisory Board in 2009.
Background
Before joining Maritime London, Doug Barrow - initially
a deck officer in the Merchant Navy - enjoyed many
years' experience in the marine fuels industry,
mainly on the commercial and operational side, working
in the Middle East, London and Singapore for Saudi
Arabian, Japanese, American and Italian interests.
Doug Barrow is a member of the Court of Assistants
of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights and a Past
Master of the Worshipful Company of Fuellers. He
was chairman of City of London Sea Cadets for five
years and maintains an active interest in their
welfare. Doug is a member of the Army & Navy Club
and currently Vice President of the Anchorites.
