John Slater is a Consultant with Horton International
UK and Regional Director Europe for Horton Group
International. He is head of the Manufacturing and
Automotive Practices. Much of his work is international
with special interests in emerging markets particularly
Russia, CEE, China and India.
Professional
John has been an active search consultant since
1987 managing assignments for a wide range of clients
in the UK. Before entering executive search John
served in the UK civil service for a short time
and then did twenty years at board level with UK
and US companies in the air transportation industry
and in marketing services, conducting and developing
business in Europe, Far East and the USA. He has
lived and worked in Holland. It was the challenge
of leading and growing international teams that
led him into executive search. His strength as a
search consultant lies in his ability to understand
the issues behind a particular role, a capability
that owes much to personal experience.
Special Areas of Interest
His specialist sectors include Manufacturing, Automotive,
Aerospace, Life Sciences, Transportation, Defence,
Engineering and Business to Business Service companies
including those in PFI and PPP project management.
Although most assignments are at Chief Executive
or Managing Director level John has also developed
a range of functional specialisms including heads
of sales and marketing, manufacturing, logistics,
human resources and supply chain. He has worked
closely with clients developing lean enterprise
techniques and global supply chain methodologies.
He has particular knowledge and experience of the
Middle East and of helping US companies develop
in Europe. In 2005 and 2006 he has been heavily
involved in helping UK manufacturers establish operations
in China.
